A man who helped prevent a terror attack on a train last summer was stabbed in California.
KXTV reported that Spencer Stone, one of the three Americans who helped take down a gunman aboard a Paris-bound train was stabbed Wednesday in Sacramento.
Authorities said Stone was involved in a verbal dispute after midnight in the city’s downtown area and then assaulted. He was stabbed multiple times.
“A1C Spencer Stone has been transported to a local hospital and is currently being treated for injury. The incident is currently under investigation by local law enforcement. He is currently in stable condition,” a statement from the U.S. Air Force reads.
The 23-year-old airman was traveling with two friends when they charged a gunman that boarded the train last August. He was cut by the assailant and needed surgery to have his thumb reattached.
He and his friends Alek Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler received France’s Legion of Honor medal for their courage and bravery.
