Janet Jackson has roared back with her first album since 2008. Unbreakable has debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 album chart, welcoming her into some very exclusive company.
Billboard reports that early estimates from Nielsen Music show that Unbreakable sold 116,000 units in total, during the week that ended on Oct. 8. That number includes 109,000 actual album sales, while the rest comes from digital downloads and streams.
This is Jackson’s first album since 2008’s Discipline, which also hit No. 1. She earned her first No. 1 album back in 1986 for the incredibly popular Control. She also has the third-most No. 1 albums for a female artist, behind Barbra Streisand and Madonna.
Jackson, Streisand and Bruce Springsteen also make up an incredibly exclusive group. All three have had at least one No. 1 album in every decade since the 1980s.
Unbreakable also features the hit single “No Sleeep” with J. Cole. Jackson also has an extensive tour planned and that continues through November.
