Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush has ordered drastic pay cuts for his staff as he looks to salvage his sinking campaign.

The once front-runner is reportedly cutting back spending by parting ways with some senior staff and consultants, as well as cutting payroll by 40 percent and also downsizing his Miami headquarters to save $1 million per month, according to Bloomberg.

The former Florida governor, the son and brother of former presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, respectively, has announced a reduction of 45 percent of his campaign budget, aiming to concentrate funds and energy into the early voting states.

Despite administrative and financial advantages over the rest of the GOP field, Bush has struggled to distance himself from other candidates, instead falling behind upstart political outsiders Donald Trump and Ben Carson.

With less than 100 days to go before the first-to-vote Iowa causes, Bush’s campaign is looking to focus more narrowly on early primary states, hoping to make a big splash to remain competitive in the nomination race.

While Bush has heavily funded super PACs and inheriting many of the same money-raisers that his father and brother had utilized, his campaign has largely failed to capture the interest of small Internet contributors.

According to the Huffington Post, only 4 percent of Bush’s donations from the start of his campaign have come from donors giving $200 or less, making him one of the worst low-dollar fundraisers in the presidential field.
