In 1987, Jennifer Grey starred in the iconic movie Dirty Dancing alongside the late Patrick Swayze. In the film, the two did the famous lift and years later countless people have tried to recreate the unforgettable move. Grey says she’s amazed that so many people have the “guts” to attempt the stunt.
In an interview with the Guardian, the 55-year-old spoke about what is known as "the lift" and her new Amazon series Red Oaks.
When asked about her rehearsal for one of the most memorable dance moves ever captured on film Grey said that she and Swayze never practiced the lift.
“I only did it on the day I shot it,” she revealed. “Never rehearsed it, never done it since. I don’t know how all these people who re-enact it have the guts to throw themselves into the arms of anyone other than Patrick Swayze. It’s insane!”
The actress also talked about her new comedy series. Red Oaks is set in the 1980s and Grey plays a women in an unhappy marriage. It also stars Craig Roberts as her son and Richard Kind as her husband.
