Fans of Kingsman: The Secret Service left the movie instantly hoping for a sequel, but they probably didn't expect one to happen this quickly.
However, THR does note that there are a few obstacles getting in the way of that April date. One is that this isn't even a completed script yet, as Matthew Vaughn and screenwriter Jane Goldman are still working on it now. The availability of Taron Egerton is also a factor, as he's shooting Robin Hood: Origins in February. That could potentially take him into April, conflicting with Kingsman 2.
Still, even if the date has to move slightly, this is great news for fans, and an indication that the sequel should be hitting theaters pretty quickly. It makes sense that Fox is quick to follow up, as the first movie made $418 million worldwide.
Of course, the big question surrounding Kingsman 2 is, will it have Colin Firth in it? That might sound like a silly question since his character was killed off in the first film, but Matthew Vaughn is actually hinting that they might bring him back. Considering the movie is an homage to over the top spy movies, coming up with some ludicrous explanation for how he survived a bullet to the head wouldn't be too out of the ordinary.
