Lauryn Hill fans rejoice as the singer is may be producing a follow up to her 1998 class The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
According to a report published by Fader Hill’s producer Phil Nicolo says new music is not so far off and that Hill has been working in the studio with him regularly working on new music.
Nicolo went on to say that Hill is closer than ever to finishing her follow-up and thanks to her involvement in a documentary about Nina Simone, she is on the brink of a genuine comeback.
While nothing has been confirmed by Hill this should give her fans some optimism. Her 1998 classic debuted number one the U.S Billboard 200 and earned five Grammy awards including Album of the Year.
Prior to her solo album, Hill was a member of the hit group the Fugees.
The Washington Post also reported that Hill recorded six covers for “What Happened, Miss Simone?” soundtrack.
Over the years Hill has been in and out of the public eye but in 2012 she faced a mountain of back taxes that eventually sent her to prison in 2013.
She has also participated in activist work that eventually lead to her involvement in the Netflix documentary that details the rise and fall of Nina Simone.
Since the release of the documentary, Miseducation has begun to slowly rise in the charts again and the soundtrack received positive reviews, a reminder that her music still resonates with fans.
