Leah Remini is admitting that growing up in the Church of Scientology, like she did, does children a disservice because of their controversial views on the roles young kids play in the world.
In another clip of her 20/20 interview, which first aired Thursday on Good Morning America, she said growing up as a Scientologist causes your ego to become “extremely inflated.”
"Because Scientologists view children as spiritual beings, you're not treated as a kid," she said. "So you're given a lot of responsibility. Your ego becomes extremely inflated."
Remini’s interview coincides with next month’s release of her memoir Troublemaker. In another clip, she discussed how important Tom Cruise is to the church and why she started to “lose touch with the real world.”
She also revealed in the new clip that the church’s mission is to "[to save] the planet," which is a huge responsibility to put on kids. As for the church, its spokesperson told People Remini was "on the verge of being expelled for her ethical lapses" when she quit in 2013.
The full interview will air on Friday at 10pm on ABC.
