The Power Ranger cast is finally filling up. With the Red Ranger cast yesterday and the Pink Ranger cast a few weeks ago, it was time to cast the Black Power Ranger.
Lionsgate and Saban announced on their Instagram account that Ludi Lin will play the Black Ranger in the upcoming Power Rangers reboot. Lin has had a few projects under his belt, but he is still considered a newcomer on the Hollywood scene.
It appears that the cast will be filled with newcomers and unknown actors, which in not necessarily a bad thing. Lin joins Naomi Scott and Dacre Montgomery as the Pink Ranger and Red Ranger, respectively.
According to MovieWeb.com young actors like Daniel Zovatto (It Follows), Ross Butler (Chasing Life) and Brian "Sene" Marc tried out for the role, but the studios chose Lin instead. Lin was not in the initial report but at the end of the day, he got the job.
The Black Ranger's name is Zack and he is described as "the life of the party," who has no trouble attracting women. He hides the fact that he lives with his single mother in a trailer park, which embarrasses and troubles him.
Production for Power Rangers starts sometime in January and the film is scheduled for Jan. 13, 2017.
