Maroon 5 may be headed to the Super Bowl 50 stage as reports have surfaced that the band is in lengthy discussions with the NFL.
E News revealed Wednesday the two sides have engaged in extensive talks and sources say they are the current frontrunner to land the gig.
Coldplay and Bruno Mars were also previously reported to have been in discussion with the NFL. Hollywood Life reported that the names Britney Spears, One Direction and Taylor Swift were thrown around at some point as well.
The Adam Levine-led rock group has won three Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards and four Billboard Music Awards.
The band has toured the world but there is no stage quite like the Super Bowl, which is the most-watched television event of the year. Katy Perry's halftime performance in Super Bowl XLIX drew 121 million viewers and Bruno Mars drew 115 the year before.
Representatives from both sides have yet to comment.
This year's big game will take place Sunday Feb. 7th at Levi's Stadium in Stanta Clara, California.
