Jane Got A Gun, the long-delayed Western starring Natalie Portman, finally has a trailer.
A trailer from France was released on YouTube today by Mars Distribution, so there are French subtitles on the video. It shows a bit more of the plot than you might expect to see in a first trailer and runs over two minutes.
In the film, Portman stars as the titular Jane, whose husband (Noah Emmerich) comes home nearly dead. He is being chased by a dangerous group of criminals led by Colin McCann (Ewan McGregor), so Jane enlists the help of a former lover (Joel Edgerton) to prepare for the criminals.
The making of Jane Got A Gun might be more interesting than the film itself and it feels like a miracle that the movie is being released at all. During production, the film’s first director, Lynne Ramsay, didn’t show up and had to be replaced by Warrior’s Gavin O’Connor. Then, Jude Law dropped out and then Bradley Cooper dropped out.
There was even a chance that the film might get lost in Relativity Media’s bankruptcy proceedings, but The Weinstein Company swooped in and took over U.S. distribution.
TWC is planning on releasing the film in February, but it will open in Western Europe next month (hence the French trailer).
