The long-awaited new Star Wars movie The Force Awakens now has a world premiere date of Dec. 14. and will hit theaters Dec. 18.

According to Hollywood Reporter Disney and Lucasfilm will unveil the new film at a massive world premiere in Los Angeles before heading to a premiere in London and numerous events around the world.

The Force Awakens will be the first live-action Star Wars movie since Revenge of the Sith in 2005.

The movie series began in 1977 with A New Hope. This film will feature both newcomers and originals including Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and others.

Additionally, the new installment is being directed by JJ Abrams.

Design and Trend reported that the new film will center around the family of Luke Skywalker and will offer a new take on the “Nazi” overtones of the Galactic Empire.

Disney has not commented on which theater the film will premiere in. The highly anticipated installment is already producing new toys and video games.
