Randy Quaid, the star of movies such as Kingpin, and his wife Evi were arrested on Friday after they were attempting to leave Quebec, Canada to go to Vermont.

CNN reported that five years ago, the Quaids fled to Canada after they were accused of felony vandalism. They missed a court appearance in California back in October 2010 and stood accused of damaging $5,000 in property.

As previously reported, the Quaids were attempting to take asylum in Canada because they thought “Hollywood star whackers” were after them. One of their bizarre allegations included that the murderers, ranging from lawyers to accountants, were responsible for Heath Ledger’s death in 2008.

While Evi was given Canadian citizenship since her father had been born in the country, Quaid was denied permanent residency two years ago. His wife had said at the time that he didn’t have a passport so this was the reason it was denied.

Quaid was reportedly set to be deported back to the US Oct. 14, but they U.S. Customs identified he and his wife after they were trying to go into Vermont. They are currently being held on $500,000 bail and were taken to different correctional facilities.
