James Franco's new film about the making of The Room has just added a familiar name to its cast.
According to The Tracking Board, Seth Rogen is in talks to join James Franco's upcoming film The Disaster Artist. Rogen is also producing the project along with Evan Goldberg, with whom he collaborated on Superbad, Pineapple Express, and The Interview. Rogen's role in the film has not yet been revealed.
The Disaster Artist tells the story of the making of The Room, one of the most infamously bad movies ever made. It's based on the non-fiction book by actor Greg Sestero, which chronicles the behind the scenes of the film and tells the story of how he got involved with director Tommy Wiseau. In addition to directing, Franco himself is set to star as Wiseau, and Greg Sestero will be played by Dave Franco.
Franco was fascinated with the Disaster Artist book long before he bought the rights to make a feature film of it. He actually wrote a review for Vice back in 2013.
The actor described the story as "both a great portrayal of hopefuls coming to Los Angeles to pursue their ambitions, and an even greater examination of what it means to be a creative person with a dream, and trying to make it come true in a form that is just as much a business, and an insider social group, as it is an art."
The Disaster Artist is expected to begin production this December.
