Disney and Lucasfilm boasted today that the final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was viewed over 112 million times in the first 24 hours.
The studio announced that the 112 million number comes from YouTube, Facebook and various worldwide platforms. Since it was posted on YouTube on Oct. 19 by the official Star Wars page, the trailer has garnered 40.7 million viewers there alone.
ESPN’s Monday Night Football also got 16 million viewers this week, meaning that the trailer was seen by at least 128 million viewers with TV viewers included.
Tickets for the film are also on sale already, although the film doesn’t hit theaters until Dec. 18. Fandango crashed and later said that the film broke the single day pre-sale record on the site.
According to Deadline, IMAX announced that it already sold $6.5 million worth of IMAX tickets, which already breaks the single weekend record for IMAX screenings.
