Tom Hanks' son, Chet, has revealed he has checked into rehab for an addiction to cocaine. He told his followers about it in a series of videos on Instagram on Wednesday night.

He addressed bizarre rumors that stemmed from earlier this summer that he had been kidnapped and gone missing, refuting them by revealing the real reason he hasn’t been around.

"I've been in rehab,” he said. “I've been trying to get my s**t together and I'm doing pretty damn good."

Chet, 25, who’s an aspiring rapper that goes by the name of Chet Haze, made headlines in June for allegedly causing £1,200 (around $1834) worth of damage to a hotel room in England.

In a separate video, he said, "I just really had to take a look at myself and my life and the way s**t was going and all the crazy stupid s**t I was doing and just finally admit to myself that it wasn't working.”

Fox News reports he admitted to cocaine and crack use, giving an inspiring message to those battling with the same addictions.

“I was selling coke [and] doing coke until I couldn't even snort it up my nose anymore because it was so clogged,” he admitted. “I even smoked crack. If I can change, you can change. There is a solution."
