Today would be Alfred Hitchcock’s 112th birthday, so it is the perfect time to look at a decade he dominated: the 1950s. That decade, he made such classics as Strangers On A Train, North By Northwest, Vertigo and Rear Window. However, that decade was easily Hollywood’s best - and not just because of Hitch. Television forced the studios to up the ante, turning the creative volume up to 11 thanks to the introduction of Cinemascope and more films in color.
