These classic movies about witches, ghosts, and monsters always bring me back to my childhood.

1. Halloweentown: After finding out she’s really a witch, Marnie and her two siblings follow their Grandmother back to Halloweentown so she can start her training. But, something strange – even evil – is going on in Halloweentown, and its up to the kids to stop it. The adventure continues in this magical series with Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge, Halloweentown High, and Return to Halloweentown.

2. Teen Witch: Robyn Lively (yes, that’s right, Blake Lively’s older sister!) stars as the unpopular Louise Miller is this 80s cult classic. On Louise’s 16th birthday she discovers that she is really a witch. She uses magic spells, along with some quirky musical numbers, to get back at the cheerleaders and teachers at her school that gave her a hard time and attempts to win the heart of the football star. But along the way she questions using magic to get what she wants.

3. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: The first film in the Harry Potter franchise gives a look into the life of young wizards and witches. From getting your first wand to learning how to fly a broom to using magic for the first time, Harry, Ron, and Hermione do it all and form a strong friendship to boot! 4. Casper: An expert in paranormal activity moves into a ghost-filled house with his tween-age daughter. Luckily, one of those ghosts is the ever friendly, Casper! For more of Casper’s adventures you can also check out Casper meets Wendy (starring a young Hilary Duff).

5. Hocus Pocus: Max hates Halloween, but when he accidentally resurrects three evil witches, he, with the help of his little sister, his new crush, and an adorable black cat, must save the town.

6. Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas: Halloween and Christmas clash in this stop motion animated musical. When the Halloween Town pumpkin king stumbles upon Christmas Town, he tries to get his town to celebrate the Christmas holiday as well – but things don’t go as planned.

7. The Haunted Mansion: Eddie Murphy stars as Jim Evers, a workaholic real estate agent who cuts his family vacation short to work on a business deal. He drags his family to the Gracey Manor where they discover that the mansion is haunted and houses the answer to a very important mystery. The Evers’ form a stronger bond as a family while trying to escape.

8. Ghostbusters: Three parapsychologists in New York City form a ghost catching company. The trio makes a comeback in Ghostbusters II where more paranormal activity brings the ghost busting business back.

9. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown: Linus spends the night in a pumpkin patch in hopes of spotting the Great Pumpkin in this classic children’s film: “Tonight the Great Pumpkin will rise out of the pumpkin patch. He flies through the air and brings toys to all the children of the world.” Meanwhile Charlie Brown is invited to his first Halloween party and the rest of Peanuts gang celebrate the spooky holiday!

10. Beetlejuice: A ghost couple who will do anything to get the newly moved in family out of their house. When their haunting doesn’t work, they enlist the help of Beetlejuice to scare them away.

Monster fans should also check out ABC Family’s 13 Nights of Halloween. Beginning October 19th, you can watch all of your favorite scary movies. There will also be a special showing of Pretty Little Liars: The First Secret. Set before Ali’s death, we get a look into the secret that started it all.
