This weekend there’s a battle at the box office between the films and within them as the characters face vampires, zombies, aliens and what some may consider blood suckers, politicians. A restaurant owner and political adviser take on their careers and attempt a comeback.

A former American political campaign strategist is convinced to get back into the game after an embarrassing loss in Our Brand is Crisis. With the hope of reviving her career and defeating her rival, she takes on the role of political consultant for a Bolivian presidential candidate.  She faces both professional and personal struggles in this new venture, as the country she is working for is embattled in protest and political unrest.  The satirical comedy is produced by George Clooney and is based on real events.  Sandra Bullock, Billy Bob Thorton and Anthony Mackie star in the one hour and forty-eight minute comedic drama.  The film is rated R for language and sex.

A two-star Michelin chef, disgraced for his bad boy image, tries to make a comeback in Burnt.  Vying for own his own restaurant and to earn the third star, he sets out to find the best people to support his goal. But in order to make his dream come true, he must face his own personal struggles.  Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, Matthew Rhys, Uma Thurman and Emma Thompson star in the one hour and forty minute comedic drama.  The film is rated R for language.

Three boy scouts and a cocktail waitress take on the undead in Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse.  The three friends use their scouting skills for survival as they battle flesh-eating people and animals in the post-apocalyptic world.  The comedic horror film runs for one hour and thirty-three minutes.  It's rated R for violence, sex, nudity and language.

Zombies, vampires and humans live in peaceful coexistence in Freaks of Nature.  Their friendly community is turned upside down when aliens rain down on earth.  The groups turn their backs on each other as they battle to survive against the extra-terrestrials.  Three teens, one from each group, join forces to find a way to destroy the aliens and get things back to the way they were.  The comedic horror film stars Nicholas Braun, Mackenzie Davis, Josh Fadem, Joan Cusack, Bob Odenkirk, Keegan-Michael Key, Ed Westwick, Patton Oswalt, Vanessa Hudgens,  and Denis Leary.  The limited released film is rated R for violence, language, sex and drugs.

A sheltered young woman looks to escape her boring life in Bare.  A wandering woman becomes her way out as the two form a relationship which introduces her to a life of sex and drugs.  With two contradicting styles of living,  she has to decide who she really wants to be and which life she wants to lead.  Dianna Agron and Paz de la Huerta star in the limited released drama.  The film plays for one hour and twenty-eight minutes.

The relationship between an American student and a French girl is rocked when they introduce their female neighbor into their love affair in Love.  With a new person in the mix, the connection between the two is never the same.  The  unrated romantic drama is running in limited theaters for two hours and fifteen minutes.

With Halloween and Election Day over within the week, horror and political films are on their way out of the box office race. Next week’s releases bring some favorite characters back to the big screen as new Charlie Brown and James Bond films hit theaters.
