Before becoming a mega pop-star and selling out arenas worldwide, Katy Perry was a backup singer for a Christian metal band.

The Alternative Press reports Perry was a backup vocalist for the American Christian alternative metal band, P.O.D. Her involvement with P.O.D.- short for Payable on Death - was brought to light when videos of the signer performing with the band surfaced on Twitter earlier this week.

According to the site, Perry appears in the band’s music video for “Goodbye for Now” and even performed back up vocals when the group appeared on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show in 2006.

In a 2012 interview with Songfacts,  P.O.D. lead singer Sonny Sandoval revealed that Grammy Award wining producer Glen Ballard introduced them to Perry.

"So when we did that song 'Goodbye for Now,' we're like, you know what would be cool is if we just got a cool female vocal. And he's like, 'I got just the perfect person.' And here comes little Katy Perry. She's a little studio rat, she'd just come around, and such a sweet girl," he said.

Perry has been open about her Christian roots and Entertainment Weekly notes that Perry tweeted about the band earlier this year.

Perry was reportedly seen flirting with Muse drummer Dominic Howard, despite attending Allison Williams' wedding with John Mayer in September.
