The Last Witch Hunter will be released this Friday and the star of the film, Vin Diesel, is opening up about how the process of making this film helped him personally deal with the passing of his friend and co-star, Paul Walker.

During an interview with the AP, Diesel explained that becoming the character of Kaulder helped him process his own grief.

"Death was a huge theme last year. There was something therapeutic about playing this role after going through (Walker's death). ... 2014 was a tough year for me in some ways -- a lot of ways," he said. "Playing a character that was masking his sorrow -- his loss -- was very appropriate for the time, because that’s what I was doing in real life with the post-Furious 7."

The Fast and Furious star also opened up about the future of the popular franchise and that Walker would be proud to see it continue.

"[Walker] took a lot of pride in this franchise and he’d be smiling down at the idea of us actually doing what we talked about, which is going to the 10th chapter."

The Last Witch Hunter stars Diesel, Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood and Michael Cane.
