A 35-year-old Anchorage woman has been accused of trashing an East Anchorage, Alaska Subway restaurant on Tuesday night. She allegedly used Spice, an illegal designer drug, before going to the restaurant.

According to KTUU, the woman, Nikki Abrell, went into the restaurant at 5 p.m., then locked herself in the bathroom for two hours, police said.

Before the Subway was supposed to close at 9 p.m., police began receiving reports that Abrell had left the bathroom, but was naked and started trashing the story, police communications director Jennifer Castro told the Alaska Dispatch News.

“The other employees had evacuated themselves out of the store and she was locked inside the store, tearing everything up,” Castro said. Castro added that there were reports that there was a fire, but the smoke people saw was just discharge from a fire extinguisher.

Arbell was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, which is a felony; and two misdemeanors. Police said that she was not cooperative when they tried to arrest her.

As the Dispatch News notes, Spice has become a major issue in Anchorage recently, with several people hospitalized in August. Earlier this month, the Dispatch News reported that the city of Anchorage has asked federal authorities for help to go after the addictive drug.
