Three people in central Maine, were fatally shot Wednesday before the suspect turned the gun on himself and took his own life.

The Associated Press reported that authorities said police responded to a series of calls about a shooter in an Oakland home around 8 p.m. The gunman had shot a man and two women and one of the female victims was able to contact 911 before she died.

Police arrived on the scene to find the suspected gunman, Herman Derico, 42, dead outside of the apartment and the three adult victims dead inside. There was also a 4-year-old girl inside the home, but she was unharmed.

The victims have been identified as 30-year-old Amanda Bragg, 29-year-old Michael Muzerolle, and 28-year-old Amy Derosby, who is believed to be Derico’s girlfriend. Police say Derosby is the person who called in the shooting. Bragg and Muzerolle are the child’s parents.

Law enforcement officials have not yet released the possible motive and the incident is still being investigated at this time.

WMUR noted that these were the first murders in the town of Oakland since 2002.
