Call it ridiculous but a judge has ruled that Bindi Irwin, the daughter of the late Steve Irwin, cannot collect her money from Dancing with the Stars until she proves that her father is deceased.
TMZ reported that a judge said the 17-year-old will not receive her money from appearing on the show without signatures from both her parents stating that they give up rights to the money. Her mother, Terry Irwin, already signed a form stating just that, but things get sticky because her father of course was killed by a stingray back in 2006.
The news outlet pointed out that it is unknown if the L.A. Superior Court judge is not aware that Irwin is dead or if she just really wants to see the death certificate. However, unless she has been living under a rock for years, the former doesn’t seem likely.
The teen’s lawyers are continuing to work with the judge on this as their client’s deal is for at least $230,000 since she had made it this far on DWTS.
As News Corp Australia noted, Irwin and her partner Derek Hough have been dancing their way into the hearts of audiences every week and are the favorites to take home the Mirror Ball Trophy. However, Bindi would also like to take home her money.
