Last week’s box office winners stayed at the top this week, with both Spectre and The Peanuts Movie commanding the top two slots. However, it wasn’t an awful weekend for two of the three new releases.

Spectre, the latest film in the James Bond series, launched to $70.4 million last weekend and took in an estimated $35.4 million in weekend two. That’s a drop of just less than 50 percent, which is good news for the film in the U.S.

However, the film is smashing overseas records. It has already grossed $413.1 million outside of the U.S. If you add in the U.S. box office, its worldwide total is already $543.1 million.

According to Box Office Mojo, Spectre made an astonishing $48 million in China, which is just $11 million shy of Skyfall’s entire gross there. That estimate could give Spectre the best opening for a U.S. 2D film in China ever.

Back on the domestic chart, Peanuts took an $24.2 million in weekend two, bringing the Fox movie’s total to $82.5 million. The film has struggled with audiences overseas, only making $8 million from 12 territories.

Lionsgate’s holiday comedy Love The Coopers opened with $8.4 million and a third place finish. The Martian stayed in the Top 5 with $6.7 million, bringing its domestic total to $207.4 million.

Warner Bros.’ The 33, which stars Antonio Banderas as one of the Chilean miners trapped underground for over two months, opened to $5.8 million. That was good enough to open in fifth.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, an Indian film distributed by Fox International Productions, came in eighth in the U.S. with $2.4 million from just 286 locations. It’s the fourth-largest Bollywood opening in North America ever.

Spotlight added a stunning $1.4 million from just 60 theaters.

My All American with Aaron Eckhart opened to just $1.3 million, despite being shown in over 1,500 theaters.
