Actor Burt Reynolds is expressing much regret for few things he did decades ago.

ET Online noted that one of things Reynolds now says he deeply regrets is ever posing nude for a 1972 Cosmopolitan shoot he did over 40 years ago. The embarrassing image caused quite a stir back then.

“I regret doing it. I wish I hadn’t,” he admitted. “It was a long time ago. I was very young and very stupid and it did not change my career for the better.”
He added that he had one too many drinks before agreeing to do the shoot.

Another regret weighing on the 79-year-old is turning down a role in 1970 to play James Bond.

While appearing on Good morning America, Reynolds said that he was offered the opportunity to take over as the iconic character after George Lazenby quit the series. However, he did not take it because he thought the role should go to an Englishman.

“I think I could have done it well,” he said. “In my stupidity, I said, ‘An American can’t play James Bond, it has to be an Englishman – Bond, James Bond. Nah, I can’t do it.’ Oops. Yeah, I could have done it.”

Scottish actor Sean Connery eventually agreed to appear as the 007 agent for a sixth time in Diamonds Are Forever.
