You think that selfie you took with a celebrity is cool? Well, the Fletcher brothers of Sudbury, Ontario have you beat. They took a selfie with a bald eagle.
On Nov. 24, Michael Fletcher and Neil Fletcher posted the selfie on Michael’s Facebook page. It’s incredible, showing Neil and Michael smiling with a giant bald eagle in Neil’s arms.
They later posted a video of them freeing the bird from a trap. In another video, Neil lets the majestic bird of prey fly away after they took a picture with it.
Neil later told CBC News that they were “relieved” to see the bird was still alive and they knew they had to help it. They put a sweater over its head to keep the bird calm.
“At first the eagle was a bit nervous to have my brother and myself there,” Neil said. “As soon as he realized we were trying to help he kind of calmed down a little bit. His head would kind of move back and forth to look at us, but that was the most he'd do.”
Michael also told Buzzfeed that the selfie was Neil’s idea. “Everybody thinks it’s like the selfie of the year,” Michael said.
Yeah, we’d agree with that too. It’s the selfie of the year.
