The final trailer for In The Heart of the Sea is here, proving that Ron Howard’s latest film might be his biggest. The director’s new film tells the story of the survival tale that inspired Herman Melville’s Moby Dick.
The trailer reveals the film’s structure, showing that Melville (Ben Whishaw), hears the story of Owen Chase (Chris Hemsworth) and his crew, who miraculously survived after a giant whale destroyed their ship in 1820. There are many dangers in the sea and Owen is ready to face them and he just hopes that he makes it home alive.
The cast also features Cillian Murphy, Frank Dillane, Tom Holland, Charlotte Riley and Brendan Gleeson.
In The Heart of the Sea is based on the book by Nathaniel Philbrick and features a screenplay by Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond). It is the second consecutive movie with Hemsworth for Howard, after the two worked together on 2013’s Rush.
The film will be released by Warner Bros. on Dec. 11. The studio is clearly hoping it makes an impact during the awards season, since it moved the film from March to December.
