Chris Stapleton became a star overnight thanks to the Country Music Association Awards earlier this month and is still riding that wave. Stapleton’s debut album scored a second week at the top spot on the Billboard 200 album chart.
Last week, Stapleton’s Traveler hit No. 1 with 177,000 total units, despite being available since May 5. This week, the album again moved over 100,000 units.
Billboard reports that Traveler moved 124,000 total units, with 97,000 of that from actual album sales during the week ending on Nov. 12.
Amazingly, Traveler just the second album to earn more than one week at No. 1 in 2015. The only other album to do so is Luke Bryan’s Kill The Lights, which was a No. 1 album for its first two weeks. Of course, Adele’s 25 is going to stop Stapleton in his tracks for next week’s chart.
Ellie Goulding’s third album, Delirium, debuted at No. 3 with 61,000 units (just 42,000 actual albums sold). It’s the best debut for the singer, topping Halcyon’s No. 9 debut in 2012.
Tim McGraw’s Damn Country Music debuted at No. 5 with 43,000 units. The Beatles’ 1 returned to the Top 10 thanks to a new release that includes DVD and Blu-ray sets, charting at No. 6 with 40,000 units.
The last debut of the week was Sara Bareilles’ What’s Inside: Songs From Waitress, which includes songs written by the Broadway musical Waitress. The album debuted at No. 10 with 30,000 units.
