The lone suspect accused in last week’s shooting at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood made his first court appearance Monday.
USA Today noted that Robert L. Dear Jr., the man accused of the shooting inside the clinic is being held without bond. His representative was Dan King, who is the public defender that persuaded a jury to spare the life of James Holmes after he killed and injured several people in an Aurora, Colorado movie theater.
The District Attorney’s office has not yet announced of they will pursue the death penaltyn against Dear.
Three people, police officer Garrett Swasey, Army veteran Ke'Arre Marcell Stewart and Jennifer Markovsky were all killed in Friday’s shooting.
Dear told the judge that he did not have any questions at the time of his morning appearance. He is due back in court on Wednesday.
While this specific Planned Parenthood location remained closed on Monday while an investigation is still underway. Others across the nation opened and vowed to provide care to those that need it.
