Back in 2011, there was a rumor that Derek Jeter gave gift baskets that included autographs to women after a one-night stand. The former New York Yankees shortstop finally addressed that rumor and called it the “dumbest” one.

The rumor goes back to a December 2011 New York Post report that Jeter would sign his own memorabilia to fill a gift basket, which he would give to any girl he broke up with or had a one-night stand.

During the first episode of Undeniable with Joe Buck for DirecTV’s Audience Network, Jeter actually brought up this rumor himself. Buck didn’t even have to ask about it.

"So, it's a dumb story. And you really have to be dumber to believe it. But they [the public] believe it,” Jeter told Buck, notes CBS Sports.

Jeter went on to explain why he never addressed this rumor and others like them while he was playing. He felt that if he addressed one, he would have to respond to all of them.

“So I just chose not to address any rumors out there, but that's gotta be the dumbest one I've heard,” he said. Jeter then turned to the audience and said, “You guys really believe that? My own memorabilia, I'm signing?”

Jeter won’t be giving out any more of those hypothetical gift bags, now that he’s engaged.
