The Republican primary race has been back and forth recently, but a new NBC News/SurveyMonkey poll shows Donald Trump has regained the lead over Ben Carson and the rest of the GOP field.
The poll showed Trump with 28 percent support from Republican and independent voters who lean Republican, while Carson dropped eight points from the previous poll. Carson had briefly pulled ahead of Trump in polls conducted earlier this month.
Other polls conducted also have Trump as the frontrunner but by a more narrow margin. The latest Bloomberg Politics national poll showed Trump with 24 percent of the support, with Carson trailing by only four points.
Ted Cruz has also gained traction chipping away at the two frontrunners lead. Cruz and the rest of the field have just over two months to continue eating away at Trump's lead before the first caucus in Iowa.
Both Carson and Trump have been making headlines recently with their strong opinions over the entrance of Syrian refugees into the United States. Trump has also been criticized for recent comments over the terrorist attacks in Paris including stating his opinion that if the people in Paris "had guns — if our people had guns, if they were allowed to carry — it would have been a much, much different situation."
The next GOP debate, which will likely be a crucial one, will be hosted by CNN Dec. 15th.
