When Jane The Virgin began on Monday, we saw 14-month-old Jane writing on the wall of her home while her mom tried to convince her mom to go out to dinner. When Alba says no, Xo says she can just go to the mall and then is surprised to find her baby drawing on the wall. After scolding her, Xo goes to help clean her up.
In the present, a very happy Jane thinks about her decision regarding her love life. But she tells her mom she still has to tell Rafael first so he knows. Meanwhile, Rafael tells Luisa about what he discovered and she tries to get him to play the cancer card to gain sympathy and get her back.
Xo, Jane, and Alba are preparing to see Alba’s immigration lawyer about Xo becoming a sponsor for her mother. Alba is nervous about going and mentions she has studied everything she can for the meeting even though she didn’t need to.
As this is all happening, Milos tells Petra he has prepared for the wedding, which she finally relented to after he didn’t budge when she tried to say no, especially with the pregnancy reveal. Petra is shocked to find out that Milos has booked an act for the wedding and it is Britney Spears.
Jane is shocked when she goes to the hotel and sees Britney Spears checking in. She has an image that Britney comes to ask her to dance to the song “Toxic.” As Britney heads for the elevator with her entourage, Jane tries to get a picture.
Xo gets the photo that Jane sent and tells Rogelio about Britney. She is stunned to find out that Rogelio has a feud with Britney Spears, in which she apparently betrayed him. Xo is surprised to find out about this, especially since Rogelio wants to go see Britney to get an apology.
Rafael finds out from Petra about the engagement and Jane comes in to hear the news too. After Petra leaves, Jane asks about the wedding and Rafael thinks that Petra is using Milos and wants to talk to the lawyer about giving Petra money. Jane begins to think this may be the moment to do the break up, but then Rafael, sensing the moment is coming, interrupts to tell her he needs to make his call.
The girls meet with the lawyer, but then are stunned to find out that Xo may not be able to be a sponsor because of a felony conviction. It turns out that when she was 18, she took the fall for her then-boyfriend, Zed, when he stole a ring for her. Jane thinks they can find Zed and get the conviction overturned so she can be the sponsor.
Later, Jane goes back to the hotel to see Michael and imagines kissing him. He greets her, but Luisa interrupts to send Jane upstairs. Luisa tells Michael she did that since she’s on Rafael’s side.
After Jane sees Petra about the wedding to Milos, she finds out about a violin that Milos had gotten for her when he was watching her play back in Russia. Jane then goes to see Rafael and suggests that Rafael go visit Petra’s mom since she knows about Milos.
Down in the lobbey, Jane finds Rogelio waiting for Britney. When she comes out, Rogelio confronts her about the 2009 Latin Music Awards when something happened with a teleprompter. Britney doesn’t seem to know what happened and won’t apologize.
Jane and Xo find the video of the awards when the teleprompter made Rogelio say he knew nothing about being a hot actor. Jane feels Britney was trying to help Rogelio and didn’t seem like she had done anything to him. Rogelio decides to use a fake, very unbelievably fake, account to get his fans riled up on his behalf.
Jane and Xo go to talk to Zed, who is still dealing in drugs, but he refuses to help them. After Jane gets her mom to leave, Jane tries to reason with him. He gives her a medical marijuana bar and Jane points out that the statute of limitations is up on the burglary. Zed still says no since he has a policy not to talk to cops.
Alba is angry when she finds out that the ring Zed had given Xo was an engagement ring. Jane mentions they can appeal and she knows Michael knows the state attorney through work so she calls him to ask for him. Michael agrees as Susannah watches him talk to Jane. After he hangs up, she questions him about Jane, knowing her baby had been kidnapped and how weird the case was.
Michael is able to send an email to the state’s attorney and later, Jane goes to see Rafael. Magda won’t talk to him, but she is willing to talk to Jane. Jane goes to visit her and finds out that Milos is an Internet criminal and she needs to be wary of him. We also discover that Milos had threatened Magda and Petra with a scam back when he wooed Petra.
Jane goes to see Petra to give her a flash drive to hold over Milos. Petra assures Jane she won’t let Milos hurt Mateo. Jane tells her that isn’t the entire reason, only about 2 percent. She admits she cares and doesn’t want her hurt.
Jane goes to talk to Rafael and he gives her a baby book of Mateo that he made. She decides now is the time, but Rafael stops her. He doesn’t want to hear that she chose Michael over him, who he still feels is a bad guy. Jane quietly gets up and leaves.
Alba is looking at some papers about Xo’s conviction, which occurred on June 12 and she also looks at the wall that still has the marks from Jane’s drawing. As this happens, Milos gives Petra a violin before she can call off the wedding.
Jane goes home and is shocked to find Alba and Xo have eaten the medical marijuana chocolate bar. She tries everything she can to get them sober, but they are completely high. She realizes they can’t go to the meeting with the lawyer that Michael set up and manages to get it changed, but also finds out that Petra is still getting married despite the flash drive.
Jane gets Rogelio to keep an eye on Mateo since her mom and grandmother are not in any shape to watch the baby. Rogelio is feeling bad since there is Internet footage of him losing it over Britney.
Jane goes to see Petra to find out why she is still marrying Milos. Petra mentions that it was because he was rich, but doesn’t mention that she had remembered that when she talked about the violin Milos gave her, it had been the wrong type. She asks Jane for help getting ready and then Jane sees a poster of her father that had been passed around.
She goes back downstairs to talk to Britney about her dad. Britney mentions that Rogelio betrayed her and to ask him about Mexico City. When she does, Jane finds out that Rogelio had tipped off the paparazzi about her being in Mexico City. He had done it in order to get attention and now he realizes how wrong it was. Rogelio apologizes and asks to be friends again.
Michael finds out from his boss that he has been benched for letting Nadine go. He is stunned to find out an informant had told Susannah and he thinks Rafael did it. As the scene intercuts with Petra getting married, an angry Michael confronts Rafael in front of Jane and Mateo. Rafael has no idea what is going on and is furious to find out Nadine was let go. The fight gets physical and as Jane helplessly tells them to stop, a vase is smashed and Mateo lets out a cry. One of the glass pieces had cut him on the arm.
A quiet Jane holds her baby as Rafael ends a call with the doctor, who said to come in if the cut gets worse. Jane wonders if he really did do what Michael thought. She goes home and finds out from Xo and Alba they had threatened Zed to get him to go to the cops. Alba blames herself for what happened when Xo was 18 because she had been distracted on June 12, the anniversary of her husband’s death. Jane listens as Alba mentions she should have put her child first. As she takes Mateo out of his car seat, a worried Xo asks about his arm. She tells them about what happened.
Meanwhile, Michael sneaks into his boss’ office to see the police interview, not knowing Susannah is watching. A horrified Michael realizes he was wrong and tells Jane. She is shocked that she had accused Rafael. Realizing she needs to put Mateo first, she reminds Michael that he had attacked Mateo’s father and that he had been injured. Michael is feeling awful and Jane admits she can’t be with him. She cries as he leaves.
Alba and Xo sit between Jane as she holds Mateo in his lap. They mention her grandfather smiling down at her and then Xo sees the baby is smiling up at them.
After the wedding, Petra is horrified to find out that Milos has smuggled grenade bombs into the hotel and now that they are married, she can’t testify against him.
Michael is fired in the wake of him watching the interview and he goes back to his car. Just as he puts his head against the seat, a gun is seen at his temple and Nadine tells him to “drive.”
