Federal prosecutors are officially seeking a maximum sentence for Jared Fogle, the former Subway spokesman who pleaded guilty to charges related to child pornography and sex with minors.
In August, Fogle pleaded guilty to charges of distributing and producing child pornography and having sex with minors. The plea agreement revealed that Fogle took trips to New York City, where he had sex with minors between 2010 and 2013. Last month, he paid $1 million in restitution to 10 victims. Four others will receive $100,000 each this month.
NBC News reports that prosecutors have asked a judge to sentence Fogle to 12 years and seven months in prison. In the plea deal, Fogle agreed to at least five years in prison.
This decision from prosecutors comes the same week that an episode of Dr. Phil featured the first interview with a girl who was linked to the sex scandal. Analissa, now 16, told the show that she was a victim of Russell Taylor, the former Jared Foundation executive director accused of giving Fogle child pornography.
Fogle will be sentenced on Nov. 19.
