Before Tuesday only a few people close to Charlie Sheen knew of his HIV diagnosis, but actress Jenny McCarthy believes she should have known about it since she played his love interest on Two and a Half Men.
McCarthy wasn’t happy that she knew nothing and worked closely with the actor during her guest appearances on the sitcom from 2007 to 2011. The 43-year-old took to her SiriusXM radio show Dirty, Sexy, Funny to explain why she felt she should have been told.
“Now being on ‘Two and a Half Men’ myself, I feel like in playing a love interest, you would think there would be some type of, I don’t want to say criminal issue, but I don’t even know how to feel about that,” she said.
The actress added that she believed since she had to disclose her diagnosis about cold sores than Sheen should have shared his diagnosis with her.
“I was like, ‘Wait a second, if I have to be upfront about a herpe, how could you not be upfront about HIV?’ I look back and I’m like, ‘OK, that would have been some valuable information.’ I mean look how many people have played his love interest on the show.”
After McCarthy voiced her outrage about not knowing, Sheen’s manager, Mark Burg, released a statement to People that may calm her nerves.
"Charlie was infected long after he left Two and a Half Men and long after he worked with Jenny,” the statement read.
