CBS Films has just signed an all-star cast to their adaptation of a James Patterson book series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lauren Graham, Rob Riggle, and Adam Pally have joined Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life, based on the first book in the Middle School series by James Patterson.
The seven-book series revolves around Rafe Khatchadorian, a sixth grader who must cope with crushes, bullying, and family issues while making his way through school. The first installment was released in 2011.
Graham will play Rafe's mother Jules, Riggle will play her boyfriend Bear, while Pally will star as Mr. Teller, Rafe's favorite teacher. Also joining the cast are Thomas Barbusca, Andrew Daly, Efren Ramirez, Isabela Moner and Alexa Nisenson. They'll be starring alongside Griffin Gluck, who was was cast as Rafe over the summer.
Steve Carr (Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Daddy Day Care) will direct the film, which begins production later this month for a late 2016 release. Patterson himself serves as executive producer, and he also co-financed the picture.
“Speaking for everyone involved in this project, we are going to give those fans the movie that they deserve," Patterson said.
Middle School: The Worst Years Of My Life hits theaters on Oct. 7, 2016.
