For  years Hip-hop fans have been patiently waiting for a Missy Elliott return which came Thursday when she dropped her single "WTF (Where They From)" with an accompanying music video.

The single is the rap icon's first since 2012 and features hit musician and producer Pharell Williams, notes Vox.

Talk about a comeback started swirling back in February when she unexpectedly appeared alongside Katy Perry at the Super Bowl halftime show. She also recently dropped a verse on Janet Jackson's "BURNITUP" off her recent album Unbreakable, notes USA Today.

Missy co-directed her new video with Dave Meyers. It is already being praised by fans and media outlets, with its high energy dance sequences, bright wardrobes and, of course, dancing puppets.

The newly released single could mean a new album is on the way. The last album she released was 2005's The Cookbook. After that, she took a break from music, in part due to health reasons after she was diagnosed with Grave's disease in 2008. As a result, she has worked to get her weight down and is displaying a slimmer figure in her new video.
