Netflix is teaming up with Selena Gomez in a new series.
The straight-to-series is based on Thirteen Reasons Why, the best-selling young adult novel by Jay Asher, and is written by Pulitzer Prize winner Brian Yorkley, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The premise of the story revolves around a collection of cassette tapes recorded by a high school girl who committed suicide, and these tapes are passed on to a list of 13 people and tell of how they played a role in her death.
According to Deadline, Gomez herself will not be starring in the series, serving instead as an executive producer.
Mandy Teefey, Kristel Laiblin and Anonymous Content will also be executive producers on the show.
This will be Gomez’s first foray back onto the small screen since the ending of her breakout series Wizards of Waverly Place back in 2012.
Since then, Gomez has focused on her acting career, starring in films such as Spring Breakers, Hotel Transylvania and also in the upcoming Neighbors 2.
The singer and former Disney Channel star has also had success as a musician, selling over 22 million singles worldwide, with her recent new album Revival debuting No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Gomez has a global tour lined up for 2016 as well.
