After returning from his visits to New York, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia last September, the announcement has now come that Pope Francis will make another trip to the Americas.

The Associated Press reported that this time the papal will visit Mexico, according to the country’s foreign relations secretary.

Claudia Ruiz Massieu said Wednesday that Francis’ stops in Central America will include Michoacan, Chiapas, Chihuahua, as well as the country’s capital of Mexico City.

The date for the pope’s arrival has not yet been confirmed by the Vatican, but some Mexican holy leaders have said it will be on or around Feb. 12.

As we reported, during the 78-year-old’s recent visit to the states he spoke before congress (the first pope to do so), said several masses and attended the World Meeting of Families in the City of Brotherly Love. The AP also noted that after his September visit, the pontiff said if he could have he would have entered the country through Mexico as a gesture of solidarity with migrants.

More than 82 percent of Mexico’s population are Roman Catholics, according to statistics compiled by The World Factbook.
