Some fans like to go to the extreme but when it comes to some Star Wars fans, extreme is just another word for normal. Half of the fun of going to the theater is dressing up as a Sith or Jedi. However, thanks to new rules at AMC Theatres, you won't be able to if you plan on seeing The Force Awakens there.

“AMC does not permit weapons or items that would make other guests feel uncomfortable or detract from the movie-going experience. Guests are welcome to come dressed in costume, but we do not permit masks," a statement on AMC's site reads. "In short, bring your lightsaber, turn it off during the movie, and leave the blaster and Darth Vader mask at home.”

This may upset some fans, but following the tragedy that in Aurora, Colorado in 2012 at a screening of The Dark Knight Rises, the company doesn't want to take the risk. AMC does not want their customers to be in danger.

Cinema Blend reports that some theaters have installed metal detectors and will be checking bags to reduce the risk. While fans may be upset, it is always better to be safe than sorry. Movie theaters are ensuring that everyone can enjoy the movie-going experience.
