Supergirl has finally earned a full season order from CBS... well, not quite.
The network announced this morning that it has ordered only seven more episodes, rather than the normal full back nine. This brings the season total to 20 episodes, just shy of the usual 22.
Supergirl is averaging 11.24 million viewers and a 2.8 18-49 rating. The series features Melissa Benoist as Superman’s cousin, Kara. Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, Jeremy Jordan, David HArewood and Calista Flockhart also star in the series.
Supergirl is CBS’ first entry into the TV superhero craze and is the latest success for Warner Bros. TV and DC Comics. The CW has Arrow, The Flash and the upcoming DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, while Fox is home to Gotham. (ABC has two Marvel shows, Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter.)
Last week, it was rumored that Supergirl might join producer Greg Berlanti’s TV universe with an appearance from The Flash (Grant Gustin) during the second half of its first season. Although Berlanti is also a producer on Supergirl, it wasn’t clear if Kara would ever meet The Flash or Green Arrow.
Supergirl airs on CBS Mondays. Check out our latest recap here.
