After a trip of over 4,000 miles, the official Christmas tree for the U.S. Capital finally arrived in Washington, D.C. The Lutz Spruce made the trip all the way from Alaska.
The 74-foot tall tree came from the Chugach National Forest and became the first tree from Alaska to be the official Capital tree. It was cut down on Oct. 27 and it made the trip mostly by road. However, there first part of the journey was a boat trip from Anchorage to TAcoma, Washington, reportsABC News.
As The Washington Post reports, the boat trip helped them cut down on time, because it would have been tough to drive it over the Canadian border.
Once the tree made it to the contiguous U.S., it was driven across the country by John Schank, a 40-year truck-driving veteran, who looks similar to a man who wears red.
The tree will be lit by House Speaker Paul Ryan on Dec. 2.
