U2 has rescheduled the Paris show that was cancelled earlier this month following the terrorist attacks in the French capital. As previously planned, the performance will air live on HBO in the U.S.
The show was originally scheduled for Nov. 14, the day after the attacks. However, Bono and the rest of the group decided to postpone the show and the performance scheduled for the following day. HBO supported the decision.
HBO announced today that the live performance at the Accorhotels Arena in Bercy will now tae place on Monday, Dec. 7, starting at 9 p.m. Eastern. The performance will also be available on HBO Go and HBO Now.
“So much that was taken from Paris on the tragic night of November 13th is irreplaceable,” Bono said in a statement. “For one night, the killers took lives, took music, took peace of mind – but they couldn’t steal the spirit of that city. It’s a spirit our band knows well and will try to serve when we return for the postponed shows on December 6th and 7th. We’re going to put on our best for Paris.”
HBO was originally scheduled to air the documentary Very Semi-Serious: A Partially Thorough Portrait of New Yorker Cartoonists on Dec. 7, but that has now been postponed.
U2 is currently on tour to support their latest album, Songs of Innocence. The iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE tour stops in Dublin tonight.
