Viola Davis’ daughter definitely made her Halloween one she will never forget.
Davis’ daughter Genesis decided she wanted to be someone who means a lot to her for Halloween – her mom. The four-year-old wore a white dress, the same color Davis wore when she won her Emmy in September, and held up a gold award.
Davis posted about her daughter’s costume on Instagram.
“So…the Elsa costume? Didn't work for her. The Pirate? A no go. So she finally said, ‘I just want to be YOU mommy’! So… uhh…this is ME,” the proud mom captioned the photo.
Davis became the first black woman to win Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series at the Emmys for her role in How To Get Away With Murder in September 2015.
“The only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity,” Davis said in her acceptance speech. “You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there.”
Genesis is Davis’ only daughter with her husband Julius Tennon, according to E! News. The pair adopted her when she was a baby.
