Coldplay might have earned a another No. 1 album this week, if it weren’t for Adele. She stayed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart for the third week in a row.

Adele’s 25 moved 728,000 album units during the week ending on Dec. 10, reports Billboard. Of that total, 695,000 came from actual album sales.

This is the first time since Nielsen Music started tracking sales in 1991 that an album has sold 650,000 or more copies in its first three weeks. Two other albums - The Beatles ‘ 1 and The Backstreet Boys’ Black & Blue - had three weeks of at least 650,000 or more, but neither of them sold that much in their first three weeks on sale.

On last week’s chart, 25 had 1.16 million units and during its first week, the album sold 3.38 million units.

Coldplay’s A Head Full Of Dreams debuted at No. 2, ending their streak of No. 1 debuts. The album moved 210,000 units (with 195,000 actual albums sold). They have had six consecutive Top 5 starts and five consecutive Top 2 starts. Their last album, Ghost Stories, debuted to 383,000 copies sold last year.

Other debuts did well this past week. G-Eazy’s When It’s Dark Out debuted at No. 5 with 132,00 units, and Rick Ross’ Black Market started with 65,000 units. Troye Sivan’s first full-length album, Blue Neighbourhood, debuted at No. 7 with 65,000 units.
