The first trailer for The Legend of Tarzan is finally here, showing Alexander Skarsgard in action as Edgar Rice Burroughs’ famous King of the Jungle.
Running just over two minutes, the teaser comes just after USA Today released the first photo of the former True Blood star as Tarzan. In the trailer though, we get to see him swing from tree to tree and even get ready to fight an ape.
The Legend of Tarzan tells a Tarzan story that hasn’t been brought to the screen before. It starts with John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, already in Victorian England. He’s asked to go back to the Congo and he reluctantly agrees to go with his wife, Jane.
The film also features heavy use of CGI, as it was not filmed on location. Instead, most of the film was shot in a huge set, where a jungle was recreated. Other incredible CGI views are shown off in the trailer.
Margot Robbie stars as Jane, while Christoph Waltz stars as the villain. Samuel L. Jackson and Djimon Hounsou co-star. It was directed by David Yates, who helmed the last four Harry Potter movies.
The Legend of Tarzan opens on July 1, 2016.
