Bruce Springsteen is about to hit the road to promote an album... that came out in 1980. Springsteen and The E Street Band announced the 2016 The River North American tour, which will run from January through March.

The tour will kick off on Jan. 16 in Pittsburg, with stops lined up for Chicago, New York, Toronto, Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, St. Louis, Phoenix and Los Angeles.

Springsteen will be out promoting The Ties That Bind: The River Collection, a massive box set dedicated to his first double album, 1980’s The River, and the original River tour. The Boss and the E Street Band originally toured from October 1980 to September 1981 to promote The River, with 140 dates and shows that often went over four hours.

The Ties That Bind, named after one of the tracks from The River, was released today. In addition to the original album, it also includes the original one-disc version of the album, plus his entire November 1980 show in Tempe, Arizona.
