When you criticise Carrie Fisher, get ready for a response. The actress went on a tear on Twitter late Tuesday, blasting people who have said that she didn’t age well. Her response: “Blow us.”
Fisher has been thrust back into the spotlight, since she returned to the role of Princess Leia in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It’s been over 30 years since she last played that part, but people still complained about her looks. She saw all that and wasn’t happy.
“Please stop debating about whether or not [I] aged well,” she wrote after retweeting one insult. “Unfortunately, it hurts all 3 of my feelings. My BODY hasn’t aged as well as I have. Blow us.”
She also tweeted a picture of her dog, adding, “My body is my brain bag, it hauls me around to those places & in front of faces where there’s something to say or see.” Overnight, she retweeted a couple of other insults, including someone who yelled at her in all capital letters, “You didn’t age well and u sucked in Star Wars. It was a rest home flick. Want my money back.” Fisher then added that youth and beauty are not accomplishments and are temporary.
Fisher has never been shy about ageing and even said earlier this month that Disney told her to lose weight before filming The Force Awakens.
“They don’t want to hire all of me – only about three-quarters! Nothing changes, it’s an appearance-driven thing,” Fisher told Good Housekeeping U.K. “I’m in a business where the only thing that matters is weight and appearance. That is so messed up. They might as well say get younger, because that’s how easy it is.”
