Disney is currently searching for the perfect actor to play young Han Solo in the second stand-alone Star Wars movie, and it has not been a fast process.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has already seen auditions from over 2,500 actors hoping to play Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars spinoff film. The list of actors includes some pretty big names like Dave Franco, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort.
While Disney found relative unknowns for The Force Awakens, including new actor Daisy Ridley, that isn't the case with this Han Solo spinoff. In fact, one agent speaking with THR said that the film is extremely easy to audition for because they are seeing just about everyone.
The agency is seeking actors between 18 and 32, although they've seen clients outside of that range, including 16-year-old Walking Dead star Chandler Riggs and 34-year-old Mr. Robot star Rami Malek. They're aiming for someone who both looks a least a little bit like Harrison Ford and who can be funny and charming. As such, they've also auditioned a few comedians for the part.
Disney hopes to narrow down the list of actors, at which point directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will make their pick. The untitled Han Solo movie will be released on May 25, 2018.
