Rachel McAdams and Mads Mikkelsen have big roles in Marvel’s Doctor Strange, but it wasn’t until today that we learned who they are playing.

McAdams will be a fellow surgeon who has a history with Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige revealed to Entertainment Weekly. Her character is Strange’s link to his normal life after he becomes a sorcerer. However, McAdams could not reveal if she is a love interest or not.

“Rachel McAdams is sort of [Doctor Strange’s] contemporary in the modern-day New York world, before and after he goes on this crazy journey,” producer Stephen Broussard added. “So, she sees him before, she sees him after. She’s kind of this audience point of view.”

Broussard also told EW that Mikkelsen is “our main villain.” The character’s name wasn’t revealed, but Feige said that he is a sorcerer who created his own sect and doesn’t agree with the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton).

“[He] believes that the Ancient One is just protecting her own power base and that the world may be better off if we were to allow some of these other things through,” Feige said.

On Monday, EW also revealed the first look at Strange’s outfit in the film, which surprisingly looks just like his comic book counterpart.

Doctor Strange opens on MNov. 24 and is being directed by Scott Derrickson.
