Bad news for Fargo fans: you'll have to wait quite a while for the new batch of episodes.

According to Daniel Fienberg of The Hollywood Reporter, Fargo creator Noah Hawley revealed on a conference call this morning that the third season probably won't air until spring 2017.

That's undoubtedly disappointing to hear after last night's spectacular finale, although it isn't entirely unexpected given that there was a hiatus of one year and four months between season 1 and 2. If Hawley and the crew took the same amount of time making season 3, that would give us a premiere date of April 2017.

FX renewed Fargo for a third season a few weeks ago, and it was announced that the show will jump forward in time from 1979 to 2008, a few years after the events of season 1. Though the series is expected to retain its anthology format and follow all new characters, Hawley did say it will connect to season 2 in some way, and select characters from season 1 may return.

Fargo's first two seasons are now available on Hulu.
